Title: A View to a Quill (The Poets Pen)
Post by: snowdoguk on March 13, 2012, 02:37:48 PM
Many thanks to the great work from everyone who contributed to this.... not quite sure what the genre is but there are several different genre influences buried in there somewhere... Steve, Ian, J and Gary, what can I say except thank you so much.

The Band:

Vocals: Steve McAndrew (PleasureDome)
Drums: Ian "Stoney" Burrage (StoneHead)
Bass: Gary Pownall (Floouk)
Keys: Jay Schankman (j)
Guitars/Mix/Arrangement: Mike Woodford (snowdoguk)

Lyrics:

The Poet's Pen (McAndrew) 20 Dec 2011
Verse 1
In skilled hands lies a lethal weapon
It can take you on a journey to the darkest recesses of your mind
Painting pictures that leave no doubt
You've got the brains you've got the power you know you can work it out

Chorus 1
Beware the poet's pen
Start to finish, begining, end and back again
Beware the poet's pen
Start to finish, then back again

Verse 2
Dark thoughts painted in white
Light thoughts made to think so black
That's the way it takes you on a journey
So tight then slack

Chorus 2
Beware the poet's pen
Start to finish, prologue, dialogue, back again
Beware the poet's pen
It's there to taint you, to lead you back again

Chorus 3
Beware the poet's pen
He'll take you, lead you forwards, backwards, back again
Beware the poet's pen
He'll lead you, take you there and back again

Wow, what a production. Everything sits perfectly, and everybody's performances could not be better.

Regards,

Oh happy day :) Ive been looking for this record in all the stores - and now I finally find it :).

Gentlemen - a marvellous effort, great performances instrument, vocal and production wise.

Love the guitar and keys interplay, the drums, bass, vocals - oh well everything.

Quite Quilling!

Glad you like guys and ditto, it was great to be a part of. 8) 8) 8)

What I find remarkable (and is clearly open to comment!!) is that I did not have lyrics and this is what I sung. I then wrote the lyrics down by listening to the song!! :D :D :D

I think that's called improvisation Steve... great vocal as usual and many thanks. By the way, if I tried that method for a scratch demo vox, I'd never be able to write any lyrics down  :-[ :-X :D

When you look at the credits for this song, you just KNOW it's gonna be smokin... and it is!!
If each player in this band was a card - you guys would be shot for having 5 ACES. >:D

Had to post again!

This is one of the most interesting - inventive songs I have heard on here in a while.

All the performances are top notch and each one - guitars, bass, vocals, drums gell wonderfully.

A particular highlight for me is the descending keys and guitar vamp.

The lyrics are brilliant too.
