I found this site and thought it was interesting. I like the fact that he sells kits. There is good info here:

I don't have any agreement or sales ties with this site. Just thought it was cool considering we have been talking about this stuff.

Thanks,

Nick

Looks intersting , shame it's not in the UK  ::)
We never finish a mix... we simply abandon them.
You can't polish a turd, but you can always spray paint it GOLD
Great songs are not written, they are re-witten

Nice find Nick, it's interesting the bias towards acoustic treatment I've noticed in the forum lately, that's a great trend.  ;)

Now I've got the Auralex foam to deal with the high/mid end , I think I'm going to have a try at making a few of these...

Seen this tutorial on you tube a long time ago on how to build a bass trap...looks easy enough.

Yes they will do a great job for the least outlay, just some basic DIY and the cost of the materials.  They are not really bass traps, more broadband absorbers because they don't trap the deep bass but my garage studio is way easier to work in now, wish I'd done it years ago rather than buying more gear  ;D

Did some measurements before and after , there was quite a peak in the low mids that was clouding my mixes and I was taking too much of it out to compensate, so the mixes didn't travel as well as they should.

I also got an Auralex kit at the same time for dispersion of the HF, though if the budget is tight I'd say you'll get more milage from making the absorbers.

PS - I made a thread when I did it, it's just below this topic
