I must get some songs off my list finally - so I decided to release "The Fall" too. I'll probably tweak it again (and again (and again ( and ...))), but this here shall be version 1.0. :)

EDIT:
I was so tired when I mixed that version that I did not even recognize the crackling noise and the terrible sound of the strings. Here is a fixed one - the REAL final version. :)

Vocals: Tricia Dovidio
Lyrics: Bob Beckley
Composed, arranged & mixed by Steffen Offermann

The Fall

The days keep getting shorter
Darkness comes too soon
All the leaves have left the trees
No sweet birds sing in tune
The north wind's blowing colder
Soon comes snow and ice
But that's not near as chilling, dear
As what is in your eyes

(Chorus):
Here comes the Fall
Here comes the end
We've lost it all
We can't pretend
Our summer love
Took us so high
But it was built
Upon a lie
And now we've got to pay for it all
Here comes the Fall
Here comes the Fall

We used to talk for hours
Snuggled up in bed
But now we lie silently
All covered up in dread
A miracle could change things
Turn our hearts around
But in the glare of your icy stare
There's not one to be found

(Chorus):
Here comes the Fall
Here comes the end
We've lost it all
We can't pretend
Our summer love
Took us so high
But it was built
Upon a lie
And now we've got to pay for it all
Here comes the Fall
Here comes the Fall

(Bridge):
There's no way I can blame you
For this broken trust
I'll have to live forever
With what I did to us

(Chorus):
Here comes the Fall
Here comes the end
We've lost it all
We can't pretend
Our summer love
Took us so high
But it was built
Upon a lie
And now we've got to pay for it all
Here comes the Fall
Here comes the Fall

Very nice. Great job on the vocals Tricia. This could be a movie soundtrack. Very nice piece of music.  :)

Just to let you all know: I uploaded a fixed version (hopefully) without crackle, and with a better mix.

Later,
  Steffen

Thanks for the bump, Dan - and good to see you again.

Tricia, the melody may be mine, but it's the singer who makes a song sound like music. And, of course, the lyric, which in this case is superb (IMO).

I think you have a great voice for ballads. Especially piano ballads, but also ballads in general.

Regards,
  Steffen
