Bobby started this one as an instrumental improv in "Studio A". Billy came along and laid down some of the most awesome orchestration ever. After hearing the production, I just couldn't resist trying to add a vocal. To come up with lyrics to match the music, I read a bunch of medieval poems and sonnets to get the feel. Have a listen and let us know what you think. And turn it up to get the full effect!
Bobby Watson - piano, bass
Billy Playle - orchestration
Benny Moore - vocal, melody, lyrics, mixing
IF I CAN
At the dusk the clouds roll in; I start to reminisce
My face is cool in the autumn wind; I can feel your summer's kiss
I never knew a longing heart could ever hurt like this
I know somehow I will return to the arms I miss...
(Chorus)
If I can I'll scale the great divide
If I can I'll tame the angry tide
If I can I'll send angels to your side
If I can
If I can
When the artist draws my wounded heart all the colors turn to gray
A melancholy work of art that yearns for yesterday
(Chorus)
(Bridge)
The roses sleep till the morning dew
The oceans run deep like my love for you
Everything that God's bestowed, the taste is bittersweet
Until I have you for my own my life is incomplete
(Chorus)
