This is yet another blues.
My thanks to all those who contributed along the way.
I just want to repeat the disclaimer that this song isn't about religion, it's about meeting a man in the street. So no offence intended.

Guitar George - vocals, guitars
Way2lon (TTM) - drum machine
toadman - guitars, bass

Religion - Music & lyrics - toadman (c)2011

V1: I was walking down the street when a man accosted me
"Do you believe in the Lord?" "Only when I'm really bored"
Mama always said "Religion, get it before it gets you"

V2: He just stood and stared at me, couldn't believe what he could see
Then he asked me about my drains, "40 days & nights of rain
Are coming down upon you, mister" was all he said to me

V3: Well I just poked him in the eye, I said religions were just a lie
Faith comes from within, sleeping in Sunday ain't a sin
He just turned around and said "Lord, strike this boy dead".

Thanks for both making the song come alive and reminding me about the mp3, George.

A fine song - with shades of Elvis, Gillan ("No Laughing In Heaven") and others.

Toad wasn't specific about the guitar playing: all the backing and the fantastic slide work is by Toad, and just the two solos at 1'30 and 2'15 are by me.

:) :) :) :) George  :) :) :) :)

I posted a link to it on my Fabeook page, I expect that's where Tricia saw it.

Thanks - I have been listening to the Hellecasters a lot recently, hence the style of the solos. The tone sound was improved from my original guitar sound by Toad EQ'ing it in the mix :)
