Mr Mom came up with this wistful set of lyrics about memories of days past...Steve and I added to the lyric, which was then set to music.

Always conceived as a simple tune, it has been brought to life through the wonderful talents of my fellow collaborators.

Steve - Once again a super vocal, sang with authentic feeling and backed by the angelic Steve McAndrew choir. In addition, the wonderful Dave Gilmour-esque guitar playing enhances the song wonderfully.
Riggo - Your rhythm guitar parts glue the sound, a hidden star of the track.
Todd -  Another top class drums part, nicely bouncy, with tasty fills throughout.
Steffen - A great mix from you, and some well placed piano lines in there as well.

This one took some time to complete, but the end result was worth it. Thank you again guys.

Andy

Gone (Gupta/Scunziano/McAndrew) (c) 2012,2013

bpm=80

Intro
V1
D
Gone are the moments that made it all so real
B5           A                       D
Departed with our childlike dreams
D
Gone is the sunshine that chased shadows away
B5            A                                 D
Along with rainbows at noon of my rainy day

Gone are the outlines of a half remembered face
And with it many smiles which so caressed
Gone is the warmth & comfort contained within that smile
That fostered so many moments worthwhile

bridge/chorus
      G
And if I could retract
The lies and all the facts
D
Where would I be standing now
       G
And if I could change my tack
Regain the wind within my sails
D
Where would I be heading now
      G
And if I could take it back
What more would I do
Em                    A5               Bm
Would it make a difference to you

Guitar solo over D B5 A G D x2 and verse chords

verse2
Gone are the feelings replaced with emptiness
Gone are prior feelings of deep content
And gone is the hunger for to scale the lofty heights
Gone like a vanquished fool, who failed to pass the test

bridge/chorus repeated

half verse
Gone are my yesterdays now dissolved in the mists of time
Gone is the bridge that leads over this wall

Outro solo D B5 G A D

Fabulous Andy, Steve, Roger, Todd, and Steffen. :) :)
Though my contribution was very minor (as usual - LOL), I really like where Andy and Steve went with this compared to the original lyrics.
Kudos to all... and a beer. 8)

Hey John,

Your original lyric inspired everything that followed, you were the prime mover (now does that sound like a Rush tune or what :).

Hi Steve,

What can I say, your contributions shine like a crazy diamond!! The initial musical direction was something out Meddle or Obscured perhaps...

An Album - would be great, it could be done, would have work past the different musician sets, mixers and themes though :). Or maybe do enough songs group them thematically and put out three albums :)

Awesome.  Not sure what to say on this except very enjoyable.  I always love your compositions Andy, you know that.  And, Steve always pulls off a great vocal no matter what.  Great mix from Steffen as always.  And Mom, nice lyric.

Todd and Roger - great contributions as always - very creative and consistent in all your music, love what you guys do.

This one rather has the feel of an anthem and almost makes we want to stand at attention :)

Thank you Cass, you are always very kind to animals and my music.

The guys pulled in great performances topped off with Steffen's excellent mix. Its who you know you know :).

;D Please stand by attention by all means when this song is on, just make sure your facing into the strong breeze coming from the north. They have lots more to spare from over there. Its 17 degC today but snowed yesterday.
