Probably the fastest collab I've been involved with, probably because I didn't go and redo the vocals 3 or 4 times, I just stuck with the originals and went with it. :D
I'm Not The One

Lyrics, Vocals, backing vocals, mix and master by Curtis Downey
All guitars, bass, piano, and music by Dave Patterson(Studioplayer)
Drums by Robert(OnlineDrumtracks)

Verse 1
Sitting by the phone
as I wait for you to call
sorting out the reasons
you left me all alone
lost inside my mind
are the last things that you said
something in the way of
you wish that I was dead

Chorus 1
I'm not the one
who was filling up with pain
I'm not the one
who was living life in shame
I'm not the one
who never settled down
I'm not the one
I'm not the one

Verse 2
I waited up for you
every time that you were gone
I gave you every reason
that you should come on home
I threw away my demons
so you were safe inside
I tried to show you love
and simple peace of mind

Chorus 2
I'm not the one
who gave into the pain
I'm not the one
who didn't want to try again
I'm not the one
who was runnin' round the town
I'm not the one
I'm not the one

Bridge
I've been the one
who has given everything
I gave you all my life
I even bought a ring
I cherished every moment
that we had spent together
even when the tides had changed
I wanted you to stay

I'm not the one
I'm not the one

(Solo)
Chorus 1
Chorus 2

APE also attached for whoever wants it.  I will take it down in a few days.

Sounds Great. ;D

I checked out your Myspace and you have some nice stuff on there, everything consistly of a high quality, songwise and technically too.  It was so fast too.  I wondered where the inspiration for the lyrics came from. Observation or personal experience ?

Thanks everyone, everything just fell in place quickly, and I am very pleased with the result.

I wondered where the inspiration for the lyrics came from. Observation or personal experience ?

Well, lets just say it is a combination of both.  I am going through some things personally, and there is alot of that in this song. And I always try to throw a bit of fiction in all my lyrics, makes things apply to more people than just me, although there is more truth than fiction in this one. >:(

Curtis,

It's a great song but I need the words that you're singing to read along with.

I'm just a bass player, it's a wonder that I can read at all.

I'll just send my dog out to find a fresh trail, I know that you have a way with words.

Again, excellent job on this fellas!

I can't get the tune out of my head, and my wife also listens to it constantly in her car!

Infact, I think she put MY CD back in the case! :)

This is really an awesome tune. One of the best I've heard around in a while.

Thanks for all the great comments gang.   :)  This song come together really smoothly. Everyone worked really well together and got the job done. Gotta love it when they work out so fast.

Curtis you always nail it on your first take. Not sure why you would go back to change things. Also I think this is one of your best mixes so far, so whatever your doing keep it up. (Post some lyrics)  :)

Great job on the drums Robert. Gave us the build we were looking for. Really created some nice dynamics to the song. Nice recording.  8)

OK. Let's make more !!!!

Thanks again everyone, I edited the first post and added the lyrics to it ;)
Curtis

As for the mix Dave, this probably took less time to mix than any song I've done, heck, only 2 mixes.  I will go back and revisit some of the other mixes for the CD once all is said and done, so I will try to use some of the things I learned on this one to get the other mixes up to par with this one.

Like I said  - It almost seemed to be mixing itself as it went along...good arrangement - all the parts record well .   It didn't need anything 'fixing' just a good job on levelling things up and a few enhancements.

That said I've heard others that took a wrong turn at the mixdown stage so good job.

Studio Player I said it before. You and Curtis make a super great team.   8)

I love this  8) 8) 8) 8) 8) 8) song..

Everything about it is a perfect fit. This happens every know and then. I love the drums and the "snare" sounds like a "snare" Fantastic. Love those cymbals and th drums are perfect and nothing is over produced. Curtis "FANTASTIC" vocals. Sometimes that first one is hard to beat..... "sometimes".. that is... Curtis great mix.  8) And thanks for posting the "Ape". That is very though full of you guys. Studio player the bass is nice and everything you did on this song is very inventive and the magic is there and heard.
The vocals are very very clear.... And projected very well too. I like the guitar solo... clean and the melody is played simple but nice   Guess you earned you name "Studio Player". A great fit I say. The lyrics are simple but hit a home run. "it wasn't me" "I am not the one"... "Must be her"  >:D

Keep up the great work... I will spin this lots of times for sure...

Tubes  ;)
