This song started with a lyric by Casia. The collaborators were:

Vocals: Jessica Rasche
Lyrics: Katherine Wong
Drums: Gerald Langenfeld
E-Guitar: Bobby Clohessy
Bass: Wolfgang Sailer
Synthesizers: Steffen Offermann
Composed, arranged & mixed by Steffen Offermann (Stoman)

I will work on the mix a little bit more, as I got some feedback saying it sounded too flat, and the drums were not mixed well enough. So this here is a preliminary mix of the final version.

You can always find the latest mix using this link: Black Crow, Black Crow (latest)

Black Crow, Black Crow
(Katherine Wong, 2008)

Apollo loved Coronis but she did sin
The fires of revenge have done you in
You were just the messenger
Cursed to black from white
Facing the devil in the darkness of night

Black crow, black crow what did you see
Your tormented soul's lookin' back at me

You were Apollo's messenger
Scorched by revenge
You possess the gorgon's blood
Now you can avenge

Black crow, black crow what did you see
Your tormented soul's lookin' back at me

You have the power to bring to life
Those who have been wronged
You will be a sign of death
Until the violence is gone

Black crow, black crow what did you see
Your tormented soul's lookin' back at me

An eye for an eye; a score for a score
Keeps you black for ever evermore
That's what you get for bringing bad news
That's what you get for telling the truth

Black crow, black crow
Messenger of news
Stripped of your glory
For telling the truth
Stripped of your glory
For telling the truth

Regards,
  Steffen

I haven't heard this before..just going through a backlog of finished songs....

This mix sounds a bit thin compared to the others so far...might wanna take another listen to it.

I like the acoustic guitars in the chorus...and the almost gothic lyrics  :)  The style is fairly unique , so good on you for doing something a bit different.

CD

We never finish a mix... we simply abandon them.
You can't polish a turd, but you can always spray paint it GOLD
Great songs are not written, they are re-witten

Thanks, CD. :)

Yes, the mix needs more work. Have you listened to the latest mix though? It isn't attached here, but the first post has a link to it.

I will remix the song when I finally have more time again - and when my list of open projects has become a little bit shorter.

  Steffen

Steffan,

I am sorry that you were not 100% happy with my vocal on this.  But I just recently have made the decision that I really need to sing the melodies as I hear them, not as they are presented to me, so I apologize if that seemed rude that I just walked away from it.  But if you see it from the way I feel, I can certainly perform better when I "feel" what I sing.

You are a very talented musician my friend, and I hope that this doesn't sour things between us.

-Jess

Jessica, I love your vocals! :)

The only problem was the sound quality of your recording, but your singing was great. Thanks for it!

Thank you for being a part of it, Jerry. :)

The mix still is not anywhere close to acceptable, but I cannot hear the song anymore. I need a couple of months to get rid of the tune and sound of it before I can try another mix.

  Steffen
