Get your canoes 'cause there's a storm a-comin' 8)

This is my tribute to the great When The Levee Breaks by Zeppelin and the fellow Zeroes made it happen.

Thanks guys for your amazing input to this and of course the tireless dynamo that is Marc Traynor AKA Canuk62 for initially his bass work but also his wonderful skills and creativity regarding the mix...thanks my bud 8)

Hope you like :)

The Zeroes

Drums - Todd Vierra (Thunder)
Bass Guitar - Marc Traynor (Canuk62)
Keyboards - Jay Schankman (J)
Guitars/Vocals - Steve McAndrew (Pleasuredome)
Mixing/Mastering - Marc Traynor (Canuk62)

Horizontal Rain (McAndrew)

Intro
Horizontal Rain
No pain, no gain
From the Horizontal Rain

Verse 1
Storm clouds gather and turn to gray
There's no denying it is the darkest day
From all four corners the orchestra assembled
Conductor's hand controls the play (of the)

Chorus 1
Horizontal Rain that breaks my window
Horizontal Rain then stings my face
Though raining hard like there's no tomorrow
Can't wash this sorrow from my face

Verse 2
Nowhere left to run, it's everywhere
Water's risen, now above my knees
Defying gravity, now falling sideways
Water's rising, now above the trees (from the)

Chorus 2
Horizontal Rain against my window
Horizon Rain then stings my face
Raining so hard,  like there's no tomorrow
Still can't wash this sorrow from my face (no)

Keys Solo

Guitar Solo

Chorus 3
Horizontal Rain that breaks my window
Horizontal Rain then stings my face
Though it's raining like there's no tomorrow
Can't  wash this sorrow from off my face

Outro
There's no escaping, the flood that's coming
There's no way out, no point in running
Forget the levees, they can't contain it
Soon washed away in Horizontal Rain

Yeah man !!! That ROCKS !!!  8) 8) 8) 8) Really has that Zeppelin sound & groove. Are you sure that's Todd on drums? Sure sounds like John Bonham.  ??? I mean seriously, Todd really has the sound and groove down.  :o Those solo's are awesome. I love hearing a keyboard solo. Cool sound. Different. Nice stuff guys as per usual. Fat bottom and overdriven guitars & keys. Gotta love it.

One for my car.  ;)

Dave

We never finish a mix... we simply abandon them.
You can't polish a turd, but you can always spray paint it GOLD
Great songs are not written, they are re-witten

Hey CBZ,

Absolutely love this one. Once again you guys have pulled all the right retro stops out.

This one would easily fit into Zep's 1971-1975 catalog....im not sure how many people would tell the difference!!

Love the playing and singing, great guitars (super solo btw), big solid fat rhythm section of bass and drums, and with J's brilliant swirls completing the picture!

Steve, I have to give you a special mention, the vocal..its so uncannily Plant like.

I think I'm going to play Horizontal Rain and Cornelia back to back and see what happens!!;)

Well done gang - now await Bluebells!!

Cheers
Andy

Thanks again guys, just glad it is working for you, it certainly ticks the boxes for me. :)

TBH, I wasn't trying to sing like Percy of the Plant on this, I was just singing the way I sing, this is trully just me, whereas in Cornelia that was a deliberate attempt to doppelgang him!!!! :) :)
