Here's a rocker that was really a lot of fun to do. Inspired by John's (Mr.Mom) great lyrics, Ian (Stonehead) put his unmistakable vocal mark on it with "evil" laugh and attitude throughout. A blistering rhythm section with Ian's fantastic drums and Andy's superb bass runs and riffs... it all came together really quite quickly. A great effort by everyone and a real pleasure to be creative with you all, thank you.

Lyrics: John Scunziano (Mr. Mom)
Bass: Andy Gupta (AndyG)
Drums, Vox and Keys: Ian Burrage (Stonehead)
Guitars, Music, Production: Mike Woodford (snowdoguk)

The Reaper's Basket

Lyrics John Scunziano 2011

Intro

(V1)
What do I think as you stand near my casket
Knowing you're glad that you're not me...
Pleased it's not you in the Reaper's grim basket.
Are you fearing FINALITY!!!???

(Chorus)
A tisket... a tasket - the Reapers grim basket
where I'll finally catch a few zzz's
No bankers to bill me or ladies to thrill me
My mind is now finally at ease...
As I lay here Resting In Peace.

(V2)
My eyes are glued shut and my lips sewed tight
But that's OK - I'm feelin fine
Nobody's gonna sleep with me tonight
I'm all hopped up on formaldehyde

(Chorus)
A tisket... a tasket - the Reapers grim basket
where I'll finally catch a few zzz's
No bankers to bill me or ladies to thrill me
My mind is now finally at ease...
As I lay here Resting In Peace.

Solo

(V3)
So pack me up and ship me out
I'm ready to make that final leap
I wanna know what the fuss is about
Just make sure you bury me deep...

(Chorus)
A tisket... a tasket - the Reapers grim basket
where I'll finally catch a few zzz's
No bankers to bill me or ladies to thrill me
My mind is now finally at ease...
As I lay here Resting In Peace.

Outro (repeat chorus)

Top shelf stuff here Mike! :)
You, Ian, and Andy worked this one out lickity-split :o

My favorite parts (Resting in Peace, Bury me Deep, and evil laugh) have me thinking that Ian went off his medications to record this. ;D
Damn it Jim! I'm a WRITER - not a Doctor!!

This was another really painless and rapid production and a pleasure as always guys ... As I said in the studio thread I would actually pay to go and a see this band ... and I'm a tight git  ;D ;D

Great lyrics from John a super bed, mix and guitar work by Mike and a wild bass line from Andy. This beastie really rocked from the off ... resistance is futile .... a whole lot of fun ......and John ... I think my performance came from extra meds LOL

Great stuff guys

Ian

Great tune guys  :D I've been following this thread and it has finished in double quick time!
I even had a try at vocals when the bedtrack was initially posted, but lost my bottle and never posted it :-[ Just as well listening to stoney's contribution!

Excellent job by everyone involved  >:D

Steve.

As I said in the studio thread I would actually pay to go and a see this band ... and I'm a tight git  ;D ;D

But if you go see this band then there would be no singer.  ??? It would just be an instrumental. Matter of fact there would be no drummer either.  ???  Just a guy with a guitar, a bass player and a Poet/lyricist standing there. Would be an interesting show.  ;D

Rockin stuff guys. Sure has Ian's touch all over it. Good tune!!  8)

Hey Steve ..Never loose your bottle ...a year ago I never thought anyone would want me to croak all over their tracks ...I have to say it's fun not that I could do it live ..I like the security of a kit to hide behind :)

Dave ...Once again you are too kind

Cheers Ian

With a title like that, it wasn't hard to guess who'd be jumping on the vocals >:D

Another winner with Mike's, Andy's, and Stoney's distinctive style!  And great lyrics too! :)
