Well this one features the beautifully sad poetry of Mr mom & the bells of Cyclone to a little music of mine. This has turned out to be a Sombre affair & a good vehicle for Mr mom poem,Empty Space.I think a person could go on forever making changes to a piece, perhaps I should have made it a little shorter or changed a line here..? However ,the poem fits the melancholic sound rather well,it wont be everyones cup of tea & it may be a touch to sad for some, but it is what it is.Here are the lyrics.

Verse 1.  I used to occupy this space, but now I'm tired from demands within, must I be so vigilant
Chorus.  To conceal in me, in life's greatest mystery
Verse2.   And my life used to be a wondrous place,I filled the voids,of all my time & space
Chorus.   Solitude,is this all that I have left
Verse 3.  I'm just a speck in a sea of emptiness,Where is life's vigour,give a reason just to live
Chorus.   Gone are the days, when I was so carefree
Spoken bridge.      Those days are now replaced with tired eyes,no longer do I dream or fantasize
On a moonless night with no stars that shine,a broken record of a broken man
                          Escape his wish,his only plan
Verse 4.  Held down the fort, till there was but nothing left,Just shattered dreams on an empty lonely quest
Chorus.   He's a river ,dried up countless years ago
Verse 5.  A silent scene that seems forever froze,His stagnant dream he wished he's never born
Chorus.   Each time he thinks,of all that life should have been
Spoken.  He occupied his space for many years, now theres a smile tucked beneath his tears
His stale routines no longer cause a sigh, his newest plan now sends his spirits high
The old man, simply waves ...& says Goodbye

I love it Ralph! 8) 8)
Your vocals were perfect for just the right feel and attitude to complete this song. I really feel that music is often times the only way to broach subjects that don't get talked about, and when subjects see the light of day and get talked about - that has to be a GOOD thing... especially when it comes to politics, the environment, war, and so on.

Thanks for putting this all together Ralph, the solo at the end is just killer, and it still blows me away - the idea that cyclone had for using the bell.
Great stuff!!
Damn it Jim! I'm a WRITER - not a Doctor!!

A woman is on trial for beating her husband to death with his guitar collection.
The judge says "First offender?"
The woman says "No, first a Gibson, then a fender."

This is superb!!  There's some interesting music going on here - and this is right in the middle of it!!

Love the brooding slice of progressive rock - it does have Floyd overtones but coupled with a modern prog sound to it as well.

The music fits the dark lyrics perfectly...everything is great!

The bell does clinch things in the end.

Well done John, Ralph and Cyclone - take a bow.

Cheers
Andy

Hey Ralph,
Inge is gonna play this tomorrow on her IMW Radio show, Serious-Music, from 2 - 4pm EST. I don't know what time that would be for where you live. Here's what she had to say:
"I like this song very much. Music and vocals incl. the production is sugar for my ears. Have downloaded for tomorrow for my radio show."

Cheers,

John
