This song reminds me of "the little engine that could"... it just kept chugging along, never seemed to stop, and surprised me over and over. The first nice surprise was when 15 year old Adam picked up these lyrics from over at the 50/90 site and blew me away with the "rough" rendition he presented to me. From there, our mini-collab migrated back here to MCS, where I asked Andy to do me a HUGE favor and take what Adam had and run the collab for me, because LORD knows when it comes to music I couldn't direct a kazoo band.

And that's when our nice little project grew legs, under Andy's watchful eye, and being that it was Andy, we attracted some of the best talent here at MCS to fill out the song. Everyone that contributed has a very distinct piece of this pie - Holger had exactly the vocals we were looking for, Mick's solo seems to be placed right where the music peaks, and doesn't disappoint. Henry grabbed his electric and acoustic guitars, and along with his backup vocals seemed to fill every void that needed filling, while Alberto kept that nice, steady, Ringo-esque beat pulsing throughout. In addition to managing our fun-loving crew, Andy contributed piano, piano solo, and of course bass. Steffen gave us his blood, sweat, and tears while coming up with a mix that we all very much appreciated. All this before finally handing the reigns over to Mark to give us his expertise in polishing up the final Master.

I know I say it over and over again, but us lyricists really do appreciate the hard work put in by everyone else. I think the ultimate credit should go to Adam for this song, as someone else mentioned, I think he may be our youngest member - but certainly not our least talented. 8)

OK - I've said enough, here's the credits and lyrics:

John Scunziano/New York : Lyric
Adam Randell/UK : Original music
Holger Bremer/Germany: Lead vocal
Mick Lovering/New Jersey: Electric Guitar, solo
Henry Mittnatcht/Germany: Electric and acoustic guitars, rhythm and fill, backing vocals
Alberto Villa/Italy: Drums
Steffen Offermann/Germany: Mix
Mark Morgon-Shaw/UK: Master
Andy Gupta/Canada: Piano, piano solo, bass, arrangement and backing vocals

poor, poor Penelope :(

If only she knew how hard a buncha guys were working to capture her ;D

For me, this has an ELO quality to it 8)

But, "McCartney's" influences are undeniable... ;)

Sweet lyric John, I'm curious, the lonely, "Penelope archetype" appear in many of your writings.

Have you experiences with this in your life? ???

Mick, your solo is great!

Holger, you're vocals are simply superb, by anyone's standards

The whole package is vintage "fab"

Great Job Guys, Cheers!

Maybe I'm channeling the days of my youth Johnny. I was extremely shy as a child, so I could definitely relate with Penelope. Funny thing happened with my shyness as I stumbled my way thru all those drugs and so on and so forth of the late 70's and early 80's - now you can't shut me up!!

Ahh... the marvels of mind-enhancing pharmaceuticals. :o :o ;D ;D

Thanks for the props Johnny, but you and me know the guys that do all the heavy lifting around here. LOL

Thanks for letting my try to mix this song despite my extremely bad hearing. I hope I'll be able to fix the low end and some other issues soon.

John, I did not play anything on this track! The piano was played by Master Andy himself! :)

Regards,
  Steffen

It's good to see this song here  ;). It's a great song and I'm proud to be part of it. Thank you my friends.
Everyone did a great job, I'd like to say a big big thank you to you all.

b.t.w. where is Adam this days? I hope that we did not loose him along the way?

It's amazing that this song was composed by such a young man. What a great talent!

@Steffen - thanks, I made the changes above. :)
@Holger - I contacted Adam before I posted this... he had forgotten about it and was most pleased to hear that it was finished. Oh, by the way I think I owe you a beer Holger... if I'm not mistaken this may be our first collab together. We've come close so many times that I'm not actually sure, without going back thru every collab I've done. ::) ;)

;D  ;D Steffen, thats a huge compliment, but this is totally Adam's creation, I may have re-arranged it a bit.

I wish I had written it though :)

Great job everyone, this one took its time but was worth it in the end!

Take a BIG bow Adam!!  8) 8)
You have a lot to be proud of... at 15, I don't think I had even mastered walking and talking yet... but come to think of it, I still haven't mastered them - I can do one or the other, but not both. :o ;D

At 15 I did not even have a keyboard and would never have dreamed that 20 years later I'd start writing and mixing songs at home. ;)

I've always been a bit late ...

At 15 I got slapped around the face by the music teacher for my witty put-down.  ::)

CD

We never finish a mix... we simply abandon them.
You can't polish a turd, but you can always spray paint it GOLD
Great songs are not written, they are re-witten
