Tis a fitting song for musicians that have played before an audience. If you have been on the road as a playing musician, this might hit home.
Much thanks to all those that contributed to this song. Could not have done it with out your help.

Mr.Mom            Lyrics
Docmidnite        Lead guitar & slide
gbm                 Keys and Strings
Benny              Vocals
Musicfort          Drums, bass, rythm gtr, production mixing and mastering

Thanks again everyone for your talent and time. It is much appreciated

Another Stage

(V1)
Another music-man...  shakin off the cold
From another day... where the rubber hits the road
Another stage... Another page in this tome
Once again... so alone

(chorus)
Sooooo... long is this road
Another music-man is sharing all his gold
Playing his heart out till there's nothing left to give
He often wonders is this anyway, anyway to live

(V2)
Another city - the crowd is smaller than before
Do they care - that he don't miss a chord
It's time to go - time to pack it up and drive
Can't remember - did he kiss his wife goodbye

(chorus)
Sooooo... long is this road
Another music-man about to sell his soul
He plays his heart out till there's nothin left to give
He often wonders is this anyway, anyway to live...

(Bridge)
No one ever told him...  that the cost exceeds the toll
It's not about the talent... it's really who you know

(V3)
Another music-man...  plays for gas and beer
Never took a lesson... he just plays it all by ear
He has a dream..... he believes it will come true
Like all the others... they all believe it too

(chorus)
Sooooo... long is the road
Another music-man about to sell his soul
He plays his heart out - till there's nothin left to give
He often wonders is this anyway, anyway to live... anyway to live...

(Outro)
So hard to have a dream... only to watch it die
What is the recipe... where fame and fortune lie

So hard to have a dream... only to watch it die
What is the recipe... where fame and fortune lie

So hard to have a dream... only to watch it die
What is the recipe... where fame and fortune lie

Sounds great guys, love the vocals Benny!  8)
Like Bob said, hopefully a lot of musicians can relate to this, which was the intent. The inspiration(for the lyrics) was from Bob Seger's "Turn the Page". :)
Damn it Jim! I'm a WRITER - not a Doctor!!

Nice collab gang!!

Good lyric, performances and production.

The slide gtr, the chords used and the fadeout are nice touches.

Excellent collaboration, guys. Well played. This really is a musicians anthem.

Great vocal Benny and the whole song's arrangement is perfect.

John - The outro resonates so much with me, more than you'll ever know.

Thanks for the kind words, means alot. This one just kind of gelled pretty nicely with everyone's input.

Doc...............  You have that knack of getting the right color to put on songs. I think what you played was perfect. I could not have asked for this to turn out any better. Thanks you and everyone else for your help and collaboration on this song. Much, much appreciated.

Well... I always dig Benny's vocals.  :)  Nice sounding tune guys. Guitars are really nice. The vocals sound really wide?  ??? It's different. I'm used to more centered vocals. Good mixing job though. Everything sounds nice and clear. Nice one guys.  8)

Nice song guys, I like Benny's vocals  - they work perfectly for this. All the playing is great....I like the guitar in the verses playing a counter-melody...really effective.

Then the arrangement picks up just when it needs to, I like the way the last line of the chorus drops down again which is unexpected.

One of the best I've heard in a while here , I like the lyrics too - something many of us here can relate to  :)

Dave and CD

Really glad you guys like the song. This was something different for me to write this kind of song. It was just one of those things sitting down playing/practicing and it came together.

Dave your correct about the wide separation, I'm using an fx that take the stereo channels and puts them to the extreme left and right. I thought it made the vocals sound bigger.

Thanks again for everyone's kind comments.

Bob

Tends to make it sound smaller/weaker as you lose the centre phantom image and there's a big hole.  If your DAW has a mono button on the vocal channel try it to hear the difference.
